About
Background
The Los Angeles Emissary is trailblazing a new young adult leadership effort in Los Angeles County bridging the gap between young adults & adult service providers to transform the housing & homeless response systems for the young folks of LA. The Emissary consists of 6 core members alongside the 8 Service Provision Areas (SPA), or “SPA Teams.” We have organized the SPA Teams through a community-driven process to engage the LA County system leaders, advocates, & philanthropic partners which will help implement policy & funding goals towards ending homelessness among young folks. Our Fiscal Sponsor, True Colors United, holds 6 full-time staff positions with ongoing support from Housing Justice Collective, Watson Consulting Group, Shelter Partnerships, Hilton Foundation, and Cedar Sinai.
Purpose
Compensate & support young folks with lived experience to lead the way for systems change.
Convene providers, system partners, and advocates monthly.
Identifies & sets local priorities on policy & funding shifts needed.
Co-design the developing Emissary to build a countrywide accountability structure that ensures actions on the policy & funding priorities set by the SPA Teams & full Emissary.
